Take a Few Extra Minutes,
and You Can Discover the Career of a Lifetime
With 17 separate government agencies and elements forming the framework of the Intelligence Community (IC), finding the best fit can be challenging yet highly rewarding. Even with the volume of IC career options, finding your perfect match doesn’t have to be a daunting task. First, decide what you like to do and at what you excel, then take the time to explore each agency’s site. Be thorough in your search, because opportunities can be found where you might not expect them.
You should familiarize yourself with each agency and the types of intelligence opportunities they offer. Not all agencies employ staff in all five areas of intelligence (analysis, science & technology, information technology, intelligence collection, and language), For example, some agencies may have more use for linguists than others, while almost every agency utilizes analysts in some form or another.
Also, be aware that the actual job duties for a particular position can differ considerably from agency to agency. You’ll need to do a little homework, but doing so can lead you to a challenging career that you will truly love.
