ODNI Releases 2021 Annual Threat Assessment of the U.S. Intelligence Community

Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, in coordination with Intelligence Community leaders, today released to Congress an unclassified annual report of worldwide threats to the national security of the United States.

This assessment focuses on the most direct, serious threats to the United States during the next year, against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, great power competition, and rapidly evolving technology.

As required by the law, this report is provided to the congressional intelligence committees as well as the committees on the Armed Services of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

The release of this assessment supports the Intelligence Community's transparency commitments and upholds the tradition of providing regular threat updates to the American public as well as the United States Congress.

“The American people should know as much as possible about the threats facing our nation and what their intelligence agencies are doing to protect them. This report provides transparency to Congress and our nation’s citizens with the aim of bolstering trust in our work and institutions.” - Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines
